Must be different from WA, but here in Queensland you can't buy an eReader at retail very easily anywhere... only Tablets. Talk to sales staff here and they dismiss eReaders as "old stuff – Tablets killed them" (past tense!).
But, getting back to the Poll subject, e-Ink is better (eReaders) but what we like best won't matter much. It's what sells best that will determine what we end up using.
Interesting opinion to back your version of the real world... wrong but interesting... check out some of the figures available on the net... generally most comments indicate tablet sales are disappointing whereas the major reader producers claim to be selling everything they can make... now being upside down may make Australia different to the rest of the world but tablets sure aren't destroying eReaders...
