Hi, rittsi:

Welcome to MobileRead.

I share your problem about having very few books in English. I live in Peru, but the majority of books are Stephen King novels, current and old mystery novels. (I read King, but I already have all his work.)

If a new Haruki Murakami came out [Hopeful Prediction: Nobel Prize next year?) , I would have to order it from Amazon or hope that it would be quickly available for my Sony.

It would be great to see some literary criticism on the Gothic in literature or any published doctoral studies on Stephen King on the Sublime in Horror....but these are not available in bookstores in Peru. And when I want to read doctoral studies on horror, then I have to order it. When I was working on my doctorate, I had easy access to all the literary criticism I needed.

That leads me back to your situation: Ebooks are GREAT when it comes to reading literature that has gone into the public domain or for reading - mostly - current bestsellers or fiction.

I personally think the next big challenge - perhaps current challenge - is when PDF documents can be read on Readers. For me personally, this would allow the purchased download of literary texts. Once this happens, it will open the floodgates in academia and in the business world.

Anyway, these are my opinions.

So, I welcome you to MobileRead and may you find a lot of helpful informatin here. Hopefully, next year, you'll be able to carry the bulk of your texts on a Reader.
