After putting the update file on the Kindle I update the kindle of course. The Kindle then restarts.

That is what I mean with it did not install the jailbreak. Obviously because the font hack wan "not installed" i.e. update was not possible.

So I need to know which update file I have to use ... I tis not perfectly clear to me which one.

Again I have a Kindle 3g, Serial B00A..., Version 3.1 (558700031)

When I updated I first tried update_jailbreak_0.5.1_k3gb_install bin. put in root directory of the Kindle, unplugged it, menu-settings-menu-> update kindle was possible but did not update ...

jailbreak 0.8N does update successfully however the font hack later does not update. Get an error message. Therefor I believe the jailbreak 0.8N did not install, because the 0.5.1 did not install. ...
