The calibre creator, Kovid Goyal, is extremely responsive in the calibre forums, as are all the calibre developers!

calibre has a regex function that can be used to remove the items of which you speak. A search of the calibre forum will reveal many suggestions. If you haven't already, visiting there would provide some assistance.
