On second reading I see how it isn't really an error. Just sounds funny to me to say "looking down" then follow it with "meet his eyes" rather than "meeting"

And yes, that "1" instead of "I" might well be an OCR error. Echoes of Honor was originally published before webscriptions started, and they might have had to work from a printed book.
I'll email them with the list of errors I still have. Can't be bothered re-reading the entire book straight away in order to find all the ones I lost.
