A novel of 1911.
Frank Guiseley is an undergraduate at Cambridge. When he converts to Catholicism his father, Lord Talgarth, cuts him off without a penny, expecting Frank to grovel and recant. Frank declines to do this. Nor will he accept help from his friends. Instead he becomes an itinerant worker and tramp.
Meanwhile, his fiancé is scheming away. But what has she in mind?
