Has anyone here read Hero With a Thousand Faces? It talks about how almost every story follows the same pattern.
Sure, it might not be announced by a prophecy or tribal ritual, but all plots are made up of a character that must react to the situation they're called/chosen too.. They are the only one that can save their families farm, win the heart of the girl, slay the dragon, win the game, etc.
