Eh, not really.
I buy very few books - get most of them from Google Books or other free sources, and the public library.
Having 3/4ths of my internal memory basically unusable to me is a big turn-off for the Nook Touch.
Why should I have to pay for extra storage when the storage is *right there*, but quarantined?
Why do this except to try to control what I read? Blech. It's not as bad as Apple or Amazon, but it's approaching it.
So, yes, it does matter - maybe not to you, but don't be one of THOSE people, please.
