But what I'm wondering is if the nook color web browser can be use with the kindle cloud reader?
I currently use my RIM Playbook with the kindle cloud reader and it works pretty well. I would like to have a few small devices to leave around the house in different rooms. I would consider any tablet that will let me read gmail, google reader, facebook and kindle books. The devices I've considered include ipod touch, the upcoming kindle tablet, the playbook...but the nook color has both a great screen size and a great price. Now i just need to fully understand its capabilities.
Thanks for any info!

The answer your question the answer is no, not with the stock browser.
I don't know if the B&N market has Dophin HD but if it does you can use that browser to access the Kindle web app. You will just have to change the user agent.
If you root or upgrade to CM7 you can do all of the things you listed and more. Both are just as easy to do and fully documented on the web. All you need is a microSD card with a minimal of 2GB.
You can also install CM7 on a microSD card and leave your default B&N OS untouched.
