I have just solved the problem!!
1. In Calibre I Converted the ebooks from Epub to PDF,
2. Deleted the Epub file,
3. Converted back to Epub.
I then deleted the books from my Sony and transferred them again from Calibre.
And they now open!!
I did the same thing to a book that was freezing and locking the reader and that now works fine too.
