I went down to the music store today to pick up my Les Paul... but then I began to think... Do I really want to play like Les Paul or do I want to play like B.B. King?
So I asked the shop guy (who already set up the Les Paul) if I could change my mind at this late date. "No problem!" says he... So he started pulling guitars off the wall and plugging them in... They had an Epiphone 'Lucille' on the rack... But they also had an Epiphone "Dot" right next to it. Some small differences, (biggest being the tunable tailpiece and the solid face on Lucille,) but as I'm only a neophyte Rock Star and need to hone my act before attracting groupies, saving $600 and getting the 'Dot' made more sense... especially as my wife will now allow me to remain in the same bedroom tonight. The 'Dot' I chose has a sunburst face rather than a solid color, like this. Much nicer...
I compared the Dot, Lucille, and a Les Paul Custom, and really prefer the way the Dot felt. The Les Paul had a 'dead' feel to it. Not the sound; that was fine. Just something about the guitar itself... Lucille was nice but I really couldn't hear a difference between her and the Dot. At half the price of Lucille, the Dot came home with me... along with a Roland Loop Station pedal. This is fun...

My job here is done.
Really, it sounds like you couldn't go wrong with any of those choices. I like the looks of that Dot. Makes me want to take up guitar.
