Oh they are definitely different! What bugged me was that I couldn't choose which families to play at my speed vs the ones that could "run free". I liked the idea of other families aging at will, but wanted the control of TS2 for my few core families. Does that make sense?
Plus the CC was changing so rapidly that I got tired of keeping track of all of it.
