The 300/600/350/650 Sonys all have mostly metal hardware. A tighter fitting silicone case would prevent most of the plastic issues on those models (if they even make cases like that!)

If you've used silicone cases on other plastic electronics and have had good results, it may be something worth looking into. Metal on consumer electronics seems to be disappearing.
