But I had over 1.5 gb of space remaining on the Kindle. More storage space is not useful unless they have a processor that can actually handle that quantity of files. If this is improved, I would consider upgrading since I could sell my K3 and not have to pay too much more.

isnt that a memory issue as opposed to cpu ?.. also might be a bug with the silly indexing thing kindle has turned on by default.. was more designed for people adding a book or 2 to it a week, adding say more than 20 or so at once adds a huge overhead without the indexing disabled.. adding 1000 heh, you cant blame amazon for not foreseeing that, I guess in theyr minds if you can afford to spend about 5+ grand on books at once, why are you buying one of the cheapest ebook readers available

.. I guess probably the best way without hacking kindle atall is to add 10 books a day, and leaving it plugged in.. no idea how long it takes to index each book. It is such a dumb feature, maybe 1% of kindle users actually use the search index hehe, it is the same in vista, and I am guessing windows 7.. just sits and eats up cpu time and memory unless you disable it.
As for storage space, you are right in that the kindle has enuf space but hmm,, if they added a micro sdhc slot to kindle 4 I would be a very happy person, costs about £10/-15 uk for a 16gig micro sdhc.. more than enuf for my entire music collection .. always seems silly to me using pc to play music / mp4 player / using kindle itelf for radio streams.. or heh, using psp for radio streams etc.. stick in a microsdhc slot and I would never have to use any of the above
