That should be "download
can come directly". It is also quite easy to buy the Amazon book from another computer and download to that computer for sideloading onto the Kindle. You have both options with Amazon.
Also, some non-Amazon sites are configured so that you can use the Kindle's browser to download directly into the Kindle. These will, of course, be non-DRM'd ebooks in MOBI format (.azw, .mobi, or .prc).
