I guess I just don't understand keeping 500-1000 ebooks in Kindle for PC's local folder unless you use your PC to do all of your reading on.

I'm confused. I am running 1.7.0 and just tried to open a book in K4PC that I downloaded in an earlier version. It opened fine. Are you saying that K4PC latest version shouldn't be able to open books downloaded from an earlier version?
