And it's plausible that the reps at IFA (or anywhere) talk without knowing, much of the time.

The german sony rep in a recent youtube video about T1 at IFA (posted around here too), the one who says "it looks like, yes, but it isn't android", when he later says that only 4 readers in the world have the eink pearl screen (in that slithery yet charming, throaty german accent), he probably thinks he's telling the truth but he just doesn't know his stuff.

here's one to add, making at least 5 in the world.

The onyx boox x60 "pearl" is indeed top of the line, too expensive and with a tiny market share, unknown to most people. The rep shouldn't be "most people" and yet, like everywhere, he is and he says more than he knows.

So someone saying it is android can be just as ignorant as someone saying it definitely is not android.
Not that android doesn't require hacking and possibly warranty voiding, if the vendor doesn't support customization out of the box.

EDIT/UPDATE: look I just did it myself ! The onyx says it has pearl eink in one part of its specs and in another says it has vizplex. And I just noticed it. Confusion everywhere. I need an aspirin.
