I don't have any sympathy for people who fall for these kind of scams since they know (or, more accurately, believe) that they are buying something stolen. Complaining to police that the new ipad you thought you were buying for $180 from some guy in a McDonald's parking lot (still sealed and in a fed ex box!) was fake is pretty much the same as complaining to police that the marijuana you thought you were buying turned out to be oregano.
