Johan August Strindberg (1849-1912) gilt als einer der wichtigsten schwedischen Autoren, besonders seine Dramatik ist weltbekannt.

"Die Beichte eines Thoren" (En Dåres Försvårstal, 1890) ist ein autobiographischer Roman Strindbergs, in dem er seine desaströse erste Ehe Revue passieren lässt.
