I'm afraid you're right.

But I would not blame Amazon or B&N for that, but copyright stuff and even International support or supply chain restrictions.

It is difficult to provide on going support or sell books around the globe. Laws change from place to place and if you want to be successful, you need to provide same good customer support here or in Brazil, Colombia, whatever. That's why i believe some companies just remain locally, to reduce cost and improve service.
