That's the idea for a boot off logo, you'll have a picture of your choice when the reader is off.
As E-Ink consumes only power when flipping pages (admittedly there is a small power drain for system, clock, etc) it will not consume any electrical power and burning the screen is only a problem with cathode ray tubes and plasma screens, never with LCD and similar technologies like E-Ink
