I have in my employ a full-time man-servant, whose sole responsibility is to keep track of my book purchases and readings.
When I finish one book, I simply ask Manse to relate the list to me, and I have him mentally filter it by genre, author, date of purchase, and length. I eventually narrow down the list (a simple process of elimination) until I arrive at what will become my next read.
Works like a charm.
