One of the reasons for the separate threads per book in the Deals forum is that usually a lot of books become free in several stores as part of the time-limited promo deal. Half the stuff being posted is from the Christian fiction publishers, which usually make it to at least 3+ stores. The rest has a very good chance of showing up at least at B&N, and possibly Sony and Kobo as well.
So having separate ones makes it easier for people to post updates on the freebie-ization status and links to the appropriate store which a kind mod will usually change the thread title to make it easier for people to find a compatible seller.

Well, then what you really need is a ticky-box with a Mark All Read button like in the PM panel.
It's only chance that it was arcadata who found and posted this batch of the upcoming new month's freebies which have shown up early at Amazon UK/EU. Under other circumstances it could have been any of the other regular freebie-finders in the Deals forum, or a combination thereof, and the posting volume and style would still be the same because that's pretty much the accepted subforum convention.
