I'm working on a non-fiction book, a military history of the War of 1812. Since it follows a particular army and unit, the book is more narrative-driven then many scholarly histories. So far I've finished two chapters in a rough draft, and am working on the introduction chapter before I get too far into the midst of the book. My working subtitle is "American Artillerymen and the War that Created the Midwest"; but of course I need a catchy phrase for the main title.
Having tried my hand at fiction, nonfiction is very nice since the material is already there. But balancing detail and narrative flow can be very difficult.
