I don't really know what the purpose is other than a quick link on your profile page to people you have common interests with. I have three friends:
One shares a desire to read some classics we should have read in high school.
One shares a love of music (especially shiny things with string).
One shares a love of animated movies.
I don't have friends on other forums. Maybe it's just the kind of community we have here.
