To me this seems like a really foolish business move.
If they're going to be plastic with a naff-looking stylus (I realise the old stylish ones were a bit prone to breaking), then how can they justify being 50% more expensive than the Kindle is soon likely to be? The only benefits are the multiple dictionaries, possibly better PDF handling (see whether Amazon improves this soon) and the Epub format. It's not as if the 650 is uncomfortably heavy - in fact, the 'heft' is rather nice.
Bad place in the market for Sony to position themselves, I think. You're either a premium product or you're not. There aren't enough quality features here to set them apart from other products in the consumer's mind, but the price difference is enough that many won't even consider it over the other options.
