I have both. But I prefer my ereader (Kindle) for reading, because it is lighter than my iPad. I gravitate to the lightest - ipad over laptop, as lighter; kindle over ipad, as lighter.
I know other women who, having bought an iPad, are buying ereaders as well. Usually the reasons they give are: lighter weight, and ability to read in the sun, while they supervise their children outside at the beach, park, baseball games, etc.
