I make a very clear distinction between "case" (enclosed container used for storage & transport) and "cover" (a partially closed wrapping that can be left on while reading).
I dislike using a "cover". They are only partial protection when used in lieu of a case and add to the bulk unnecessarily when reading.
My K3 "lives" in and travels in a nice padded zipper case (from CaseLogic via OfficeMax for $15USD) and is naked when reading (as am I frequently, but that's a different topic).
