Hi from a new Boox M90 and Kindle DX user in Singapore

Hello all,

I recently got both a Kindle DX and a Boox M90. I bought them thinking I would use and compare both for a while and sell the one I liked less. That plan has gone awry as my spouse has hijacked the Kindle. I'm OK with that if it gets him to read more books and play less EVE Online.

The reason I wanted large screen devices is because I have to read a lot of PDF for work and got fed up of reading them on computer LCDs. I was waiting a long time for Hanlin's V90 but it seems like it's still not out? So I stumbled across the existence of the Boox M90 on a Chinese ereaders website. So far I quite like it and the stylus is much more convenient for selecting items in long lists/tables than the 5-way pointing stick on the Kindle. The lack of keyboard means a smaller footprint than the Kindle DX. The software bugs are definitely an annoyance though, and the English handwriting recognition sucks but the Chinese is OK, although not much use as the only thing I write in Chinese is my name.

(I own another device with a Wacom tablet/stylus, a second-hand HP tc1100. This tablet PC was discontinued years ago but since I've spotted it as a "futuristic" prop on two TV shows!!! Mine's running Ubuntu.)

In practice however, I've used my new ereaders for more novels than scientific papers so far...
