I had this issue crop up in 1.9.9 as well, though resolved by doing a factory reset.. I t hink it was a database error that was driving the failure.

I think the problem is not so much that Kobo is turning itself on, but rather, Kobo is failing to shut down. Sure, you see the "Shut Down Screen", but by definition, the kobo has to draw that screen before it actually shutdown. There is no other visibile indicator to prove that the device has shut down (other than the drain, or lack thereof, on battery after 24 hrs.). Hense, if the Kobo silently fails to finish shut down sequence, the timer to 'sleep' mode keeps on ticking and does it's thing.

It would be nice if Kobo could just re-build the database. I tried deleting the database file prior to factory reset, but then, the Kobo just got stuck in an infinite "processing content."
