Thanks, Manichean. My problem is that the content server, running as a service, does not seem to maintain its log files, especially the access log, in the folder indicated in "Preferences...Miscellaneous". If I stop the service and run the content server from within Calibre, the access log is updated and resides where it should. Shut the server down and restart the service, and either another access log is used or the expected one is not updated. Or I am dilly, which is also not beyond the bounds of credibility. Probabilities favour no updates, because extensive searches could not find server_access_log.txt anywhere.
