I had one and took it with me everywhere, along with a stack of 45's: Beatles, Kinks, Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, Dave Clark 5, Animals, etc.

Till then, I'd been using a transistor radio and had to settle for what someone else wanted me to hear. With a portable record player, I now had the ability to listen to any song I owned whenever and wherever I wanted.
