Welcome. Yes, there are many reports of issues with unlighted covers (what's up with that?) I have a lighted cover and had no such issues. The only thing is that with time pieces of plastic around the slits where the inserts go broke off (my kids may have helped), so the cover is loose somewhat but is still fully functional.
