Redirects. Amazon owns a ton of domains for various products and services. For instance, kindle.com redirects you to the Amazon page for buying a Kindle Special Offer edition. This way they can just say "Kindle.com" if they want you to go directly to the kindle page, and have all the benefits of keeping you on Amazon.com
