I know, considering I'm an amateur astronomer as well (and so is that lazy husband of mine!). Which was another reason why I gave that mighty bright. But the lights you see there often are too large or more torch-like.

What I remember from the old days, when I still lived at home, the red light in a dark room is much darker. I doubt that would give enough light to read by... That Mighty Bright gives a very nice beam. But I'd love a smaller one (without the white LED branch).
