Just creating a new account and using the Copia software won't work, though--or at least I still couldn't download these three books when I tried that approach some weeks ago. The secret was going into the settings and getting them directly there.

Ditto. But on the other hand, I'm pleased with the free books they've given me--I was able to get rid of my existing paper copies for most of them.
And thanks to pageturner for telling us about the settings--that was the key clue!
