Mi culpa - Always reluctant to read failure details I missed this:

MOBI output written to /tmp/calibre_0.8.15_tmp_OPp5sl/dFqrEz_recipe_out.mobi

And, in fact dFqrEz_recipe_out.mobi is the newspaper El Mundo

So it appears it has been working and I've been wasting my time - but this method of finishing the download seems unlikely to be the intended one. After all, nothing in the instructions says to look for your newspaper in /tmp with a random string for a name. And, of course, when I quit calibre it cleans up all the files in /tmp Aaaaargh!

It appears I've been successfully downloading and then successfully deleting my newspapers.

So, the question is, why doesn't the newspaper appear in Calibre?
