SUCCESS!

Finally, I've gotten the three elusive books from Copia: Wheel Spins, House of Dr. Edwardes, and Mute Witness.

Here's how I did it. First, I deactivated my account in the Settings section (you have to log in on the Web page to access the settings). Then I created a new account.

Since I have not used Copia for anything but the freebies, there were no notes or other info to lose; if you have such info, it may be better to sign up for a new account with a different e-mail address instead of deactivating. (I had tried simply deleting the three books, planning on then re-buying them, but that option would not work.)

OK, so then I found the three titles again, all still free, and rebought them with the new account, and used the "download now" button. Instead of going through the Copia application, I went back into settings, to the Purchase History section, where now I had a redownload option (not the "gift purchase" that showed previously). And then I downloaded them to ADE, completely bypassing the Copia software.

Of course, I'd already bought one of the books elsewhere, and gotten the other two in Kindle version, but prying them loose from Copia had become a bit of an obsession--and now I've done it!
