I'm a diehard mobi fan. When I got my Opus I actually checked out the free books that came with it in ePub. I really disliked the way they looked. I downloaded a friend's book from Feedbooks in ePub and checked the way it looked on the Opus. Nah. I switched to mobi. Much better. So much easier on the eyes.

I even hate reading ePubs on the computer, whether with Adobe or Firefox reader. I used to read on my computer with mobipocket reader long before I got my first ereader.

I think it's a bit like whether you like Macs or IBM clone computers (showing my age here); you're either one or the other, never both.
