There was a spider on my bed last night, too. I did kill that one -- it had no business roaming across my covers!
My general rule of thumb is - if it won't hurt me (or mine), then I won't hurt it. That stand true for just about anything expect roaches - which I find to be the most disgusting and oddly scary creatures on the planet.
