The problem is that when you release a book on Kindle ONLY, folks like me who don't convert between formats can't read the books on our e-readers, which is why we HAVE our e-readers: to read on them.

True, but
carpetmojo was stating that you can only read Amazon ebooks on a Kindle which is not true. Yes, you can't read them on other ereaders but you can read them on a number of other devices.
