I usually have multiple books "open" at any one time, currently 7 active open books and one "long term on hold". Though I have only one ereader in current use, I do read the occasional pbook (one of the current 7 is paper).

I rarely interrupt any one narrative mid-stream. Almost always, the books are story collections where I've finished one story and switch to another collection or single narrative before returning to the first book to read the next.

The reason for switching around is to change genre. My current open group includes three biography/history books, one humor/satire (P.G.Wodehouse), one mystery/crime, and two science fiction.
