Pre-existing kindle library: best practice?
Hi,
I have a kindle dx with lots of books, already somewhat sorted into collections. I want to use calibre to fix up metadata, and organise into collections.
Can someone improve on the following steps:
1) copy kindle books into calibre library. [i.e. cannot edit kindle metadata on device?]
2) edit metadata on library
3) send books back to device
4) get rid of duplicates on device (every single book whose metadata I edit).
Since there are hundreds of books, and I can't easily locate the older of a pair in a duplicate pair, steps 3 and 4 are better accomplished by deleting all books from kindle and sending them fresh from the calibre library.
5) Get plug in from meme and use it to organise collections. Realise that any book whose metadata I added will no longer be in the collection it was originally assigned to.
Is there a better way to do this?
It would be really cool to edit the metadata on the kindle directly. But the button is greyed out, so I assume it can't be done.
Thanks,
Tim
