LOL like most folk music, I think there's about 20 different sets of lyrics to Yellow Rose.

The one I was taught in elementary goes something like this:

There's a Yellow Rose in Texas, I'm going for to see,
Though other men have held her, her heart belongs to me,
She's the diamond of the desert, the golden flower of Spring,
The Yellow Rose of Texas, can make a man a King!

After doing some research, I think "my" set of lyrics is later in origin than Stitchawl's.
