Given that modern netbooks now have upwards of 10 hours battery life and wake up from asleep in seconds (my old Samsung netbook does it in 4 seconds), would they now work for you in the classroom?

They're heavier, but not noticeably longer or wider, than a 10" tablet, but you do get the added benefit of the keyboard, full suite of software, wider range of input and output options (including to projectors) and clamshell protection.
