You wouldn't want to use that first photo in an advert but there is absolutely no reason not to use the second one. In the first I 'painted' the boat, cleaned the fenders, etc., etc. using Photoshop.

But in the second one, absolutely NOTHING was done to the boat at all, only to the boatyard behind it. This is the effect of using a smaller F/stop on a camera lens to reduce the depth of field in the image when taking the photo, allowing the viewer to concentrate on the subject rather than having it cluttered up with background. No trickery at all, just done after the shot was taken rather than at the same time.
