Sleep is just screen-saver or low-power mode; wakeup takes maybe 1.5 secs. Reboot on the other hand restarts the complete operating system, and takes several minutes to do so. Do this by holding the slider for about 40 secs, or by the sequence [home]->[menu]-><settings>->[menu]-><restart>.

I just do this to ensure the battery is charged. Also if you have loaded a lot of books since the last indexing run, the indexing process can drain the battery quite quickly since it is cpu intensive, so it is as well to leave the kindle attached and therefore using external power.

My observations show that a typical novel will take about 90 secs to index. YMMV.

I've always rebooted to do this, then disabled indexing again once the indexing process completed. I've had another play around, and in fact this is the
only way to do it. When I originally found the ~disableIndexing trick, it worked so well I never bothered to test the ~stopIndexing and ~startIndexing debug options
