Bang on. Apple has built an ecosystem-the Ios platform- that is a wonderful business model. It sells devices, which sells and delivers content, which sells more devices.Its been a money making machine, too. As I said, it is Apple's SYSTEM, rather than its individual products, that is "insanely great".
Amazon has been taking notes and is definitely aspiring to build a similar model. The Kindle itself is an example of the model, with the Kindle bearing the same relation to the Kindle Store as the Ipod to Itunes. Just as Apple built out its ecosystem with other devices-Iphone, Ipod touch, Ipad-Amazon is adding at least 1 Ipad type tablet and maybe another smaller tablet to its lineup -tablets that it will use to sell video, apps ,music, and games. Heck , the only thing missing is a phone-that' ll come next year....
