I purchased the books because there has been a lot of praise for these books both here and on Teleread. I have to say, having read the first two-thirds of the first book, So You want to be a Wizard, that if I were 8 to 10 years old, I think these books would be great, assuming I had never read the Harry Potter books, but as an adult, I think I wasted my money. However, having bought them, I'll try to slog through them. I also think any young person who has read the Harry Potter books would find these books lacking, at least based on what I have read so far. Perhaps it gets better; here's hoping.
