Based on the many recommendations written here for this book, I finally decided to read it. I can see now why it is favoured by so many. It really is a top-notch book: excellent plot, sci-fi-ness(?), character,... I wouldn't rank it as my choice of
best sci-fi novel based on my previously posted criterion (i.e. teaching me about humanity), but it's definitely a worthy contestant. I'll have to find more of Bester's works.
